Mono Touch

By philiprichardson

Wow… I did not see this coming: Mono Touch. Novell has release a ‘development suite’ which allows you to write C# applications for the iPhone. Some people have screamed about the price, but in my opinion it’s a steal. If your company (or hobby) has existing .NET development skills you have to weigh the cost of learning the iPhone paradigm vs shelling out $399+ and getting a solid head start.

Given the potential for significantly lower ‘porting costs’ we could see a lot of .NET based Line of Business applications now make their way to the iPhone.

Phil, you gotta get out of the cave more. Miquel has been talking about this for months. I bought a Mac Mini about a month ago prepping for this.

And I’m totally happy to pay $399 for the kit. People who are screaming don’t understand that if the company doesn’t make money, there is no company, and hence, no product.

I mean heck, how the in the world is Novell going to pay for any of that cool Mono development they’ve been doing.

    Later, Mitch

PS. Miss you in the CRM world.
